Step Aside Hollywood, These Bollywood Action Movies Are Just As Good

In a big family where every member has a distinct choice for the kind of entertainment he/she prefers, it's almost impossible to avoid a debate on what should be the best way to delight everyone. Thankfully, there is something where everyone finds solace - Bollywood flicks.

Probably we all would agree that there is no explanation for a movie buff as to why he/she likes or dislikes a certain genre of movies from the West or our very own Bollywood. But unlike most female audience in the country who love masala movies full of romance and heavy emotions, I'm more inclined towards high-octane action-packed movies even if the sequences are far from reality. Recently while watching one of my favourite action thriller Commando 2 on ZEE5, it clicked my mind to list some of the action flicks produced by Bollywood which were on par with those from Hollywood. So here are my picks -

Paltan:
This is one Bollywood movie that recreates realistic on-field action of the Indian Armed Forces! The reel life characters of the movie Paltan perform rigorous action sequences depicting absolute strength and endurance. As a result, these sequences not only keep you hooked till the end but also evoke the feeling of high regard for our army personnel.
Naam Shabana
One of the excellent female-centric projects wherein the lead actress Taapsee Pannu showcase some gritty martial art moves with incredible skill. This movie successfully brings in a welcome transition of female characters from being meek to powerful. The swift moves of the Krav Maga portrayed by the determined undercover agent Shabana (Taapsee), choreographed by French Cyril Raffaelli of District 13 fame, leaves the audience with the feeling of a Hollywood spy thriller.
Commando 2:
In the recent past, Bollywood action movies are coming of age with well-choreographed fight sequences. One such movie is Commando 2 which Vidyut Jammwal in the lead. In the movie, Vidyut reprises his role of Commando Karanveer Singh Dogra and totally nails his stunts in the movie. Whether it is sliding to narrow windows or throwing lightning fast punches, he has done it all in this action extravaganza. If there was someone who can give Hollywood action stars a run for their money, it is Vidyut Jammwal and Tiger Shroff, who is next on this list.
Bagghi- Rebels in Love:
I'm honestly flattered by the awe-inspiring action scenes enacted by this muscled yet agile hunk of Bollywood films. Well! you guessed it right. He's none other than the daredevil Tiger Shroff. Just like Vidyut Jammwal, he is an actor who is known for pulling off the toughest stunt scenes without any body-doubles or harness, like those from this movie. No wonders, the breathtaking flying kicks and death-defying stunts performed by 'Karate Kid' of B-Town have made the audience forget Hollywood. The final showdown from this movie will particularly be remembered as one of the better-choreographed fight sequences that Bollywood has ever seen.

While there is no denying the fact that rousing popularity of Hollywood action movies is showing no signs of slowing down, Bollywood is not much behind in terms of entertainment value.

So, what do you think about this list? Are there any other Bollywood movies that should have been on this list? Let us know what you feel in the comments.

  6. These sound awesome! I, too, am not the type to watch a lot of "girly" type films. I lean more towards Action and Horror. My DH also adores Action films. Thank you so much for the recommendations. I will be looking for more Bollywood films now.
